Biodiversity Management
Various programs are organized by JGPSS to create awareness among the villagers about the importance of environmental protection. These programs include tree planting, desilting, awareness about biodiversity conservation, etc.
The Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board, Nagpur, has selected our organization as the coordinating body for the establishment of People’s Biodiversity Conservation Committees at the Gram Panchayat level in the year 2016. We have set up committees of 30 Gram panchayats in Hingoli taluka of Hingoli district and submitted its report to the government.
In 2020, on the orders of the Principal Chief, Forest Conservation, and Member Secretary, Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board, Nagpur, the work of preparation of People’s Biodiversity Register was successfully completed in 12 Gram Panchayat People’s Biodiversity Management Committees in Block Hingoli.
A report about their work was submitted to the Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board Nagpur for investigation. The report of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Member Secretary, Biodiversity Board, Nagpur was received by letter dated 18/03/2020. The report notes the good work done by the organization.
The Zilha Parishad administration has taken note of this work and other blocks 70 villages in the district have been given the task of preparing a people’s biodiversity register.
The organization has worked with the Peoples’ Biodiversity Committees. Through these committees, various programs are to be organized in the Gram Panchayat area. It aims to organize initiatives in the areas of tree planting and tree conservation, wildlife conservation, awareness on the Biodiversity Act 2002, skills development, organic farming programs, sustainable production from waste. The organization is working towards the sustainable development of the village through this program. Financial support is needed for the comprehensive implementation of the above-mentioned programs.
